Staff Software Engineer (Backend/Fullstack)

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join a strong, passionate engineering team and help shape the future of our commerce platform. This is a backend-focused role with a meaningful impact on product architecture, scalability, and integrations across the e-commerce ecosystem.

You will work on core systems such as subscriptions engine and integrations with major e-commerce cart platforms. While backend expertise is key, frontend skills are a strong plus.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, platform, and integrations teams to design scalable, reliable systems and influence technical direction across the organization.

Please note, this is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the option to convert to full-time after 3–6 months. Compensation during the contract period will be paid monthly.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop core backend systems, including subscription, billing, and tax services.

• Build and scale integrations with major e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, SFCC).

• Architect reliable, high-performance APIs and distributed systems.

• Drive technical decisions and contribute to long-term platform architecture.

• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across teams.

• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and other teams to deliver complex features end-to-end.
  
  

Skills Required

• Strong experience in backend engineering at scale.

• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, C#, or Java.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and integrations.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and microservices architecture.

• Ability to think at the system and product level, not just implementation.

• Experience working in complex, cross-team environments.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Frontend experience (React, TypeScript, etc.).

• Experience with e-commerce, payments, subscriptions, or marketplaces.

• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)

• Understanding of compliance, privacy, and security best practices in fintech.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, GitHub Actions, etc.)
