About the Role
Dandy is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on IT Engineer, Security to be an instrumental technical implementer for our nascent cybersecurity program. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, IT Engineering, you will be responsible for the technical deployment and initial operationalization of our core security infrastructure and processes.
This is a critical, individual contributor role perfect for an engineer who thrives on building from the ground up, is a technical expert in security tool deployment, and is passionate about ensuring robust operational security in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do

Core Security Technology Implementation:
Lead the technical deployment, configuration, and integration of systems and processes to improve our security posture (Ex: Patch management process, MFA, etc)
Establish initial alerting, reporting, and dashboarding capabilities within security platforms to create immediate operational visibility.

Initial Security Operations:
Own and execute the new Security Incident Response Process, acting as the primary technical responder for security alerts, performing initial analysis, containment, and log correlation.
Develop and maintain clear standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks for the newly implemented security systems.

Infrastructure and Cloud Hardening:
Work closely with the IT Engineering team to implement baseline security configurations and hardening standards across endpoints (Windows, macOS, Linux) and cloud platforms (GCP and/or Azure).

Process Documentation and Support:
Create and maintain detailed system documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration guides for all security tools.
Support the IT Engineering team by providing expert guidance on integrating security controls into network and system architecture.
What We're Looking For
Hands-On Expertise (4+ Years): 4+ years of practical experience in IT security engineering or operations, with a proven history of delivering security improvements.
Tool Expertise: Deep technical skill with installation, management, and troubleshooting of IT applications and security related configuration.

Infrastructure Integration: Strong background in supporting security within IT infrastructure, including:
Network Security fundamentals.
Security configurations for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Familiarity with foundational security controls in GCP and/or Azure.
Operational Mindset: Proven ability to quickly learn new tools, follow detailed implementation plans, and execute incident response steps in a methodical manner.
Collaboration: Excellent ability to communicate technical requirements and work seamlessly with the broader IT Engineering team to ensure security standards are met during system deployments.
Bonus Points For
Experience in mid-sized, high-growth tech companies.
Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CEH, or OSCP.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
Background managing vendor relationships and procuring cybersecurity tools.
Knowledge of data visualization tools for security analytics (e.g., Looker, Splunk dashboards, Elastic).
