About the Company:

Redesign Health is a global venture and applied technology firm focused on building next-generation healthcare companies. We manage venture capital and venture buyout strategies, each powered by an AI operating system and team of leading technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors.

Our venture capital strategy backs exceptional founders at the earliest stage—often before an idea is fully formed—and provides first institutional capital and an unmatched degree of strategic leverage and domain expertise through exit. Our venture buyout strategy partners with proven management teams through control investments and delivers outsized value by rewiring core products and workflows with AI.

Since inception in 2018, Redesign and our portfolio companies have touched the lives of more than 15 million patients, raised over $1.5 billion from premier institutional, sovereign, and strategic investors, and built distinctive partnerships with marquee healthcare organizations and senior leaders around the world.

Redesign is based in New York and has offices in Bengaluru, Los Angeles, and Riyadh.

About the Role:

As a Managing Director of New Ventures, you will back exceptional founders at the earliest stage—often before an idea is fully formed—providing first institutional capital and an unmatched degree of strategic leverage and domain expertise through launch and beyond. This role demands generative ideation, exceptional founder judgment, and the ability to sell world-class entrepreneurs on partnering with Redesign Health. You will develop original investment theses in healthcare, identify and attract top 1% founding talent, lead co-ideation and diligence through Investment Committee, and serve as the primary interface between portfolio founders and Redesign’s platform.

The core equation: Exceptional Founders × Differentiated Concepts × Redesign’s X-Factors = Power-Law Outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

Thesis & Ideation:

Identify white space in healthcare where AI-native businesses can create outsized outcomes. Develop original, high-conviction investment theses grounded in deep market understanding, clinician pain points, and structural tailwinds. Generate concepts that are bold, differentiated, and commercially viable. Validate theses through primary conversations with clinicians, operators, payers, and potential customers—not just desktop research. Draft compelling collateral that attracts world-class founders to Redesign’s platform.

Founder Sourcing, Selling & Co-Ideation:

Find top 1% founders and convince them that Redesign is their best path to building a generational healthcare company. Build a network that surfaces exceptional talent before anyone else sees them. Present concepts and Redesign’s strategic leverage compellingly enough that founders choose us over well-funded alternatives. Lead a collaborative diligence process (“co-ideation”) to transform thematic areas into venture-scale business concepts. Evaluate concept potential and founder-market fit with the judgment to say no quickly when conviction is lacking—time spent on mediocre opportunities is time away from exceptional ones.

Diligence & IC Delivery:

Stress-test your own theses harder than anyone else will. Identify the 2–3 questions that truly matter for each investment and resolve them through primary conversations and expert input. Shepherd founders and concepts to the Investment Committee with clarity, speed, and honest representation of risks.

Network & Ecosystem Building:

Develop a robust pipeline of exceptional founders through proactive sourcing across VC networks, healthcare operator communities, and the broader startup ecosystem. Build and maintain deep relationships with tier-one venture capital firms, healthcare incumbents, and strategic investors. Be the person that founders proactively seek out, VCs call for pipeline intelligence, and the industry turns to for a healthcare venture perspective. Your network is a compounding asset—invest in it every week.

Portfolio Company Partnership:

Act as the primary interface between portfolio founders and Redesign’s platform. Deliver the firm’s strategic leverage: domain expertise, go-to-market acceleration, fundraising positioning, and governance insight. Represent Redesign through a single non-controlling board seat where appropriate. Build trusted relationships with founding teams so they proactively seek your input—be the first person they call in a crisis. Know when to lean in and when to step back; the founder’s success is the only thing that matters.

Thought Leadership & Organizational Influence:

Serve as a healthcare thought leader internally and externally. Teach the organization about emerging healthcare × AI opportunities—what’s interesting, why it matters, and how the market is evolving. Proactively mobilize cross-functional teams (Venture Traction, Founder Strategy, legal, finance, technology) early in the deal process. Feed insights from founders, market conversations, and co-ideation back into Redesign’s platform capabilities. Represent Redesign externally with the credibility and depth that makes world-class founders want to have a conversation.

What You’ll Need:

Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred, with a record of high academic achievement.

  • 10+ years of experience with a significant portion in venture capital, company building, or early-stage investing. Direct experience evaluating founders and making investment decisions at the pre-seed to Series A stage is strongly preferred.

  • Deep healthcare domain expertise with the ability to develop original investment theses across care delivery, health tech, and healthcare services.

  • Established network across the venture capital, healthcare operator, and startup ecosystems with a demonstrated ability to source and attract exceptional founding prospects.

  • Fluency in business model analysis, investment thesis development, and financial modeling.

  • Track record of end-to-end ownership—leading work from thesis to founder to investment decision with minimal oversight.

  • Deep connectivity to startup ecosystem with a proven ability to identify and attract generational founders.

Core Competencies

  • Founder Quality Obsession: A refined, evolving sense of what “great” looks like in founding talent, including the ability to recognize the exceptional in non-standard backgrounds. Holds the bar even when pipeline pressure creates incentives to lower it.

  • Speed to Kill: The ability to say no quickly—to founders, to concepts, to your own ideas. Runs a tight pipeline where nothing lingers in an uncertain state. Comfortable cutting bait despite time invested.

  • Commercial Instinct: Maps every concept to a specific stakeholder’s willingness to pay, understands unit economics, and senses whether a business model can scale. Academic depth paired with commercial judgment.

  • Big-Swing Thinking: Aims for outsized outcomes. Generates bold concepts with conviction, even when the path is unproven. Comfortable making asymmetric bets where the upside justifies the risk.

Behavioral Skills

  • Relationships Over Research: You spend disproportionate time with founders, VCs, operators, clinicians, and payers. You know that a few sharp primary conversations will answer questions that weeks of secondary research cannot.

  • Drives Results: You take initiative without over-planning, seize opportunities, and tackle challenges with urgency and enthusiasm.

  • Radical Honesty: You surface risks early, communicate directly even when the message is unwelcome, and maintain strong opinions loosely held. You close loops even when the answer is no.

  • Partnership: The founder's success is the only thing that matters. You subordinate process preferences to founder needs, adapt to their pace, and always ask "what does this founder need right now?" You are the first person every founder calls in a crisis.

  • Technology Innovator: All analytical and synthesis work — market sizing, landscaping, competitive mapping, secondary research — goes into AI systems. Your time is reserved for the irreplaceable: relationships, taste, judgment, primary conversations, and selling. You have built systems and workflows far more sophisticated than basic LLM usage and are constantly experimenting with new ways to compress months of work into weeks.
