Lead Product Manager, In-Store Operations
Slice
Ilir Sela started Slice with the belief that local pizzerias deserve all of the advantages of major franchises without compromising their independence. Starting with his family’s pizzerias, we now empower over tens of thousands of restaurants with the technology, services, and collective power that owners need to better serve their digitally minded customers and build lasting businesses. We’re growing and adding more talent to help fulfil this valuable mission. That’s where you come in.
Note, we have a strong preference for US or Canada based candidates who are located in the Eastern time zone, although neighbouring time zones may be considered for exceptional candidates.
The Challenge to Solve
As a Lead Product Manager you will be working on one of our fastest growing product areas, In-store Operations, which is critical to enabling the “reverse franchise” product offering that we provide to independent pizzerias and restaurants.
The Role
As a leader within Product Management, you will spearhead the product development within the In-Store Operations team, an area which focuses heavily on Slice Register (POS), delivery and devices/appliances such as kitchen displays, digital menus and customer kiosks. Your team will improve, iterate and build new products that serve the staff (and owners) working in a mom and pop shop and ensure they have the tools available to run as efficiently as possible. You will be responsible for a coherent portfolio of features and be accountable for the entire product lifecycle, whilst identifying new areas of investment (new projects) for the product or area. You’ll continue to build first class products that marry both hardware and software components to give our partners hardware solutions that power their day-to-day activities.
As is the nature of this position, you can expect to spend time at independent pizzerias interacting with products and users, especially if you’re located near a cluster of Slice powered shops, or you can expect to travel on occasion to fulfill this need if you’re located further away.
The Team
You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders such as Design, Go-To-Market and Operations. You’ll have direct peer support from two Lead Product Managers who lead adjacent teams, meaning this position is one of three top level Product roles reporting directly to the Head of R&D. You’ll also have direct line management and leadership responsibilities for a small team. The day-to-day team activity includes defining simple, elegant solutions from understanding user needs and identifying when they may need to seek further research. You’ll be the product expert for In-store Operations with a deep understanding of the users, market, and technology while fostering innovation across the whole team by creating space for it to happen.
The Winning Recipe
We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial Lead Product Manager who is excited to build world-class products for small business counters. These are the core competencies this role calls for:
- A minimum of 5+ years of Product Management experience within an industry that focuses on independent businesses, whilst building the software and hardware products that they rely on daily
- A strong track record as a high performing individual contributor first and foremost, our leaders all ‘lead by doing’
- You’ve demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a product space and have harnessed an entrepreneurial spirit to understand the product area and build a roadmap for it
- Direct line management experience of Product Management colleagues is advantageous
- Experience both in analysing data to help develop hypotheses and then constructing experiments to test them
- Experience in driving business outcomes, as opposed to shipping features
- Demonstrated experience using some kind of product analytics tool
- Clear passion for Design Thinking and being a partner to Product Design
- Fluent in agile software development
- Familiarity with merchant services, POS devices, digital kiosks, menu displays or the pizza/restaurant industry in general is a bonus
The Extras
Working at Slice comes with a comprehensive set of benefits, but here are some of the unexpected highlights:
- Flexible PTO
- Market leading medical, vision and dental insurance
- 401K matching up to 4%
- Monthly wellness reimbursement/stipend
- Weekly pizza stipend (Yes, that’s a thing!)
