Ternary is seeking a Lead Product Manager to advance the strategy of our leading FinOps platform. Global cloud spending will grow at more than 20% annually to over $670B in 2024. Both enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) are actively looking for a FinOps platform that provides visibility, optimization, and automation to manage their cloud spending and maximize business value. Ternary is a leading FinOps platform provider, managing our customers' billions of dollars of cloud spend.

In this strategic position reporting to the VP of Product Delivery, you will help shape our product vision, strategy, and roadmap, determining what we build and when to ensure our platform remains the best in the market. You are data-driven, a careful listener and connector of dots, able to synthesize disparate data into coherent product strategy and articulate the vision across the company, with customers and prospects, and within the FinOps ecosystem.

About us:

We are passionate about building a platform that excels in FinOps, one that we wish we had in our past roles as engineers, financial analysts, and leaders. Our founding team boasts deep experience, with many members having been early employees at leading cost management/FinOps products. We've leveraged this expertise to develop an advanced platform that serves enterprise and MSP customers operating at scale. We are well-funded and have plenty of runway to succeed. At Ternary, we value being biased toward action, acting with urgency, quick execution, and passion for supporting our customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Help define and communicate Ternary's product vision, spirit, and strategy.

  • Develop a data-driven product system Ternary uses to explore new opportunities and make strategic tradeoff decisions.

  • Help set a strong vision for our product, and have Engineers, PMs, and UX Designers on the team look to you for product guidance.

  • Engage with customers, prospects, and industry experts to gather insights and feedback. Stay abreast of trends in the FinOps ecosystem, informing and refining our product roadmap accordingly.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of product development and launches.

  • Partner with the VP of Product Delivery and CTO to ensure rapid translation of strategy into product capabilities.

  • Lead the product development lifecycle from 0>1. Communicate a well-defined product vision to the team, guiding what to build and what to avoid. Prioritize features and collaborate with the VP of Product Delivery to coordinate execution across Scrum teams.

  • Track key product performance metrics to make informed decisions on product capabilities, priorities, and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • You have 10+ years of product management or entrepreneurship experience, with at least 3+ years of experience developing products in the cloud infrastructure space.

  • Ability to define and communicate a clear product vision aligned with Ternary's overall strategy.

  • Strong understanding of FinOps market trends, the competitive landscape, and customer needs.

  • Empathy and regular customer engagement, ensuring that genuine customer needs and pain points drive our product decisions.

  • Commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Expertise in software development processes, technologies, and tools.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering teams and bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in using analytics and metrics to drive product decisions and measure success. Strong problem-solving skills, using data to identify issues and opportunities.

  • Experience with A/B testing, user analytics, and other data-driven techniques to validate hypotheses and optimize products.

  • Ability to identify unique opportunities and differentiate our product in the market.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, customer demands, and technological advancements.

  • Willingness to take calculated risks and learn from failures.

  • Focus on continuous improvement, iterating on products based on feedback and performance metrics.

  • Existing relationships with key industry analysts and experts are a plus.

Comp and benefits:

  • Company-sponsored travel to interact with colleagues several times a year.

  • We provide generous health benefits, 401(k) plan, and a WFH budget for you to set up your home office.

  • Equity compensation so that all employees can participate in Ternary's success.

  • The team culture is the best of what you would expect to see at a startup combined with a level of maturity you would see at a much larger company.
