We are Thrasio - Builders Welcome!

At Thrasio, we build brands, using a deep understanding of rankings, ratings, and reviews – plus supply chain and marketing smarts – to transform the art and science of commerce. Thrasio products can be found in over 80 million households, with an estimated 1 in 2 US homes having purchased a Thrasio product over the last three years. And our goal is for all of those households to be truly delighted by their purchase.

What Makes Us Unique

At Thrasio, we’re in building mode: block by block we’re working together to construct a great company. What does that look like? Everyone is a leader - we lean into opportunities, not titles. We expect everyone to behave and act like a leader. Our Leadership Principles inform the ways we work together to ensure the brands, products and services we offer truly delight our customers. Everyone is a builder - whether it’s gaining marketable new skills through project sprints outside of your own function, or standing up more efficient ways of work - we’re doing it from the ground up. Everyone belongs- a sense of belonging brings us all together. We operate as One Team.

The Role

The Director, Global Procurement is a pivotal leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and leading the ongoing operation of comprehensive procurement functions across Thrasio. This individual will lead an established product sourcing team while also building, centralizing, and directly operating the company-wide indirect procurement function. Similarly, this role will take full operational ownership of freight and warehousing procurement. A key mandate will be to establish best-in-class, scalable procurement operations, including the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and navigating complex global trade dynamics, including tariff implications, to ensure efficiency, compliance, and value generation. This role requires a strategic leader with a hands-on approach to building and running functions, strong negotiation capabilities, and the ability to drive change and build a supporting team structure in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the continuous improvement of global sourcing strategies, ensuring the team proactively researches market trends, supplier landscapes, cost drivers, and international trade policies (including tariffs, duties, and import regulations).

  • Oversee the analysis of tariff impacts on landed costs and develop strategies to mitigate risks and optimize sourcing decisions accordingly.

  • Oversee complex negotiations led by the team to secure favorable terms, including pricing, quality standards, lead times, payment terms, and supply agreements, factoring in total cost of ownership inclusive of tariffs.

  • Enhance and manage a comprehensive supplier relationship management program, executed by the team, to foster long-term partnerships, drive continuous improvement, and mitigate supply chain risks.

  • Ensure strong collaboration between the sourcing team and Brand Management, Product Development, Quality, Demand Planning & Forecasting, Operations and Finance to align on sourcing strategies and tariff implications.

2. Freight & Warehousing Procurement:

  • Assume full operational responsibility for the procurement of all global freight (ocean, air, drayage, domestic) and warehousing services. This includes managing day-to-day procurement activities, supplier performance, and issue resolution in this category.

  • Develop, implement, and actively manage standardized processes and strategies for this category, leading critical RFP processes, negotiations, and ongoing relationship management with key logistics providers, staying informed on how trade policies might impact logistics routes and costs.

  • Continuously analyze and optimize logistics spend, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining or improving service levels and transit times.

  • Monitor global logistics market trends and proactively develop and execute strategies to manage risks and costs.

  • Partner with Supply Chain Operations teams to ensure procured services meet operational requirements and support efficient inventory flow.

3. Company-Wide Indirect Procurement:

  • Establish, build, centralize, and then lead the ongoing operation of the company-wide indirect procurement function for all non-inventory goods and services (e.g., software/SaaS, IT hardware, marketing services, professional services, travel, MRO).

  • Develop and implement standardized procurement policies, procedures, and systems from the ground up and ensure their effective day-to-day execution for all indirect spend.

  • Initially, directly manage and execute key sourcing initiatives, negotiations, and contract management for major indirect spend categories, subsequently building and mentoring a team to handle these operational tasks as the function matures.

  • Implement and oversee the use of procurement tools(e.g., e-procurement, contract management) to streamline processes, enhance visibility, and ensure compliance within the function.

  • Partner with department heads and budget owners across the company to understand their procurement needs, manage centralized purchasing processes, and provide expert operational support.

General Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, evolving procurement organization. This includes strategically hiring and developing talent to effectively operate centralized procurement functions.

  • A core responsibility will be to design, document, implement, and ensure adherence to comprehensive SOPs and scalable procurement frameworks across all areas of responsibility. This includes creating playbooks, process maps, and training materials.

  • Establish a framework for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to changes in global trade policies, tariffs, and geopolitical factors that could impact procurement costs, supply chain continuity, and sourcing strategies.

  • Define and implement governance structures, policies, and controls to ensure compliant, efficient, and transparent procurement operations company-wide.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the procurement function.

  • Drive change management initiatives to support the adoption of new procurement processes and systems across the organization.

  • Champion procurement best practices and elevate the strategic importance of the function within Thrasio.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including trade compliance.
