Job Description
Tovala is unique. We have invented a product and service that gives people the best of home cooking, without the work. We’ve grown to nine figures of ARR and maintained best-in-class customer retention and engagement. To get to the next level, though, we need a marketer that understands how to translate that into mass adoption.
We could share all the obvious things we (and everyone else) want: great leadership, experienced manager, deep D2C experience @ scale, multi-channel experience, natural storyteller, comfort with data, etc., etc. Those are all true. And necessary. But beyond that, what we really want is someone that can figure out the right insight and tell the most compelling story that inspires even the skeptics. Someone who has great intuition, and backs it up with the numbers. Someone who can lead a team to win by taking the right risks. We don’t care if they went to a fancy school or that their former job was for a household name. We care that they can roll their sleeves up and bring the magic of Tovala to life in our marketing.
This role will report into our COO.
Location requirements: Chicago is preferred, but someone remote with travel (1 week/month) is ok.
How you’ll spend your time at Tovala
- Developing and driving our marketing strategy across performance, brand, and creative
- Attached at the hip with our Product team to ensure we’re thinking about how we can leverage Product to drive growth and vice versa
- Partnering with our Operations team to ensure that we’re considering the feasibility of everything we are doing
- Investing in the growth and development of your team
- Obsessing over the Tovala prospect customer; understand their motivators, backgrounds, and interests to develop advertising and compelling messaging that speaks to them
- Pushing our thinking and creativity on new strategies and channels to acquire customers
About you
- 8+ years in diversified leadership roles, driving growth through building brand
- Successful track record of managing, building, and scaling highly effective and diverse teams
- Adept at truly rolling up your sleeves and doing the work
- Experience successfully scaling and running a native digital business (preference for experience in subscription, new-to-market and high-consideration products)
- Strong ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights about the customer, the channel, and the business
- Deep appreciation for and ability to build a great culture
- General management and P&L experience
